What they'll learnThe North Carolina Alliance for Health’s
Grassroots Advocacy Training
on Healthy Food Access

Please join the North Carolina Alliance for Health and Youth Empowered Solutions for a free, interacive training on obesity, and how we can prevent it in our state through increased access to healthy foods. We will talk about what it means to be an advocate for health at the state level and in your own community as well as practice some media and decision-maker advocacy skills. We will also be discussing:

Food insecurity in North Carolina
•Existing efforts to bring healthy foods to communities across the state
•What to look for on this topic during this year’s General Assembly session

Training participants will then be eligible to receive mini-grant funding to implement a Healthy Food Access Project in their community. These teams will work in their local communities to increase access to healthy and affordable foods through a corner store initiative. Selected teams will be required to participate in statewide advocacy efforts that support the statewide healthy corner store initiative called Healthy on the Go NC.
