Policy. Advocacy. Change.

ABFPC is currently revising our governing documents to reflect the 2019 structural changes and will upload the new documents as soon as they are finalized.

Governing Documents History:

2016, our 7th year, was an introspective year for the Asheville Buncombe Food Policy Council.  One of the first food policy councils in North Carolina, ABFPC continued to be one of the most established and well-developed grassroots food policy councils in the region. As we planned for strategic operations and prepared for the many challenges we face in expanding and protecting food and farm sovereignty, we took significant time to put our operational house in order by drafting our first complete and detailed governing documents (linked below).

ABFPC’s governing documents, including policies and procedures, provide the framework for smooth operations and horizontal governing structure that has empowered us to be successful thus far and lays the groundwork for ongoing collaborative leadership in the field.

As we move forward with our revisions we are working within the framework was developed in 2016 to reflect updates in our structure and operations.  We are grateful for the hard work that went in to the development of these original documents and owe a debt to the dedicated volunteers who shaped them.

We are confident that the past and current work that has gone into developing and revising these documents will not only serve to guide our work in Western North Carolina, but will also provide a model for other independent food policy councils throughout the country.

In cooperation, we share these governing documents with the community.
